Lazaroo – Saturday, January 14, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud…stunned:
“Then they cried to the LORD, ‘O LORD, please do not let us die for taking this man’s life.’”
(Jonah 1:14)
These men were in a terrible quandary, Jesus.
They had every reason to believe if they threw Jonah into the sea in the midst of this raging storm, he would drown.
On the other hand, they knew Jonah was guilty of running from You.
They knew You had sent this fierce storm to punish him.
He was the reason their ship was about to sink.
He told them the storm would stop if they threw him overboard.
It was him…or them.
So they begged Your forgiveness
and threw him overboard.
Confronted with the same decision, You made the opposite choice.
You are the innocent Son of God
I’m the one guilty of running from You
but because of Your startling love for me
You threw Yourself overboard.
