Lazaroo – Friday, December 23, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with no-holds-barred surrender:
“Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.”
(Psalms 3:7)
Am I allowed to pray like this, Jesus?
Is it really okay for me to beg You to punch out the bad guys
and while You’re at it…break their teeth?
I seem to remember You telling me to love my enemies.
Didn’t You challenge me to pray for those trying to harm me?
Something tells me this isn’t the kind of prayer You had in mind.
Or is it?
You called David a man after Your own heart.
Apparently You liked it when he prayed this way.
Why does David get to pray this kind of prayer and I don’t?
Or maybe that’s the wrong question.
Is it possible there’s a time for both?
If so…
teach me when to ask You to bless my enemies
and when to beg You to annihilate them.
