Lazaroo – Monday, December 12, 2011
No comments, Dec 12, 2011
Stay alert, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.”
(1 Thessalonians 2:3)
That’s refreshing, Jesus –
because there sure are a lot of people trying to trick me.
Some of them are companies who manufacture products
not nearly so sturdy as they appear
that don’t work as promised
selling service plans that tie my hands
when I try to escape a bad deal
with warranties that cover everything
but the part most likely to break.
If only the tricking stopped there!
But it doesn’t.
It bleeds into my relationships
including people who
pretend to be somebody they’re not
say things they don’t mean
lead me to believe one thing
when the truth is really another.
I’m tempted to fight fire with fire
do to them the same thing they’re doing to me
except for the fact that…
You’re watching.
