Lazaroo – Friday, December 9, 2011
No comments, Dec 09, 2011
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.”
(2 Kings 2:11)
It’s pretty rare to see that, Jesus.
Normally, when You call someone up to heaven
they have to die first –
which leaves the rest of us here on earth
staring at a shell – the body left behind
the person once inside
now missing.
When that happens most of us never get to see stunning chariots of fire drawn by fiery horses.
We’re not permitted to witness the powerful whirlwind that carries them to their new home.
Instead of victory
it looks
feels
sounds
smells
tastes
like defeat.
But it isn’t.
If only we had eyes that could see…
Elijah’s spectacular home-going
is the norm
for everyone who’s bet the farm on You.
