Lazaroo – Thursday, November 24, 2011
No comments, Nov 24, 2011
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble devotion:
“He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, ‘I am not the Christ.’”
(John 1:20)
I like people to think highly of me, Jesus.
But sometimes people judge me harshly, unfairly.
That hurts.
So when they give me a little too much credit…
I’m tempted to let them do it.
After all, I reason, what does that hurt?
It kind of evens things out
makes up for the times when I did something good
and it got overlooked
or misunderstood
and I got trashed for it.
John was in that position, wasn’t he?
You were doing some pretty amazing things through him.
When the Jews started speculating that he might be their long-awaited messiah, he didn’t have to lie.
All he had to do was smile
let them think whatever they liked.
But he stopped that falsehood in its tracks.
Dear God:
Give me the integrity of John.
