Lazaroo – Saturday, November 12, 2011

See if you can discern the parallels, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“On that day I will punish all who avoid stepping on the threshold…”
(Zephaniah 1:9)
You don’t care much for superstition, do You, Jesus?
Wide-eyed people who
knock on wood
get nervous on Friday the 13th
probably don’t do just a whole lot for You.
But this behavior Zephaniah describes was far worse.
Back when the Philistines captured Your Ark of the Covenant, they carried it into their temple and set it beside their idol Dagon.
When they woke up next day
they found Dagon fallen on his face on the ground…
before Your Ark.
Next morning, it happened again
this time with Dagon’s head and hands broken off…
lying on the threshold before Your Ark.
From that day on, Dagon-worshipers stopped stepping on the threshold.
They’ve got to be kidding!
You’d think they’d get the point –
stop worshiping Dagon
and start worshiping
the God of the Ark.
