Lazaroo – Thursday, October 27, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with mounting excitement:
“Get yourself ready!”
(Jeremiah 1:17)
I love the sound of that, Jesus.
It tells me You’ve got a plan.
I’m not on some random journey at the mercy of chance and happenstance.
I’ve got a clear goal
an assignment
a purpose
a destination
I’m going somewhere.
It tells me You and I are about to do something significant together
not just any old thing
not something I can just wing
but something that requires me to stand tall
to gather myself
to be at my best.
And it tells me something else, too:
It’s near.
It’s like that moment at the start of a 100-meter dash when the runners hear:
“On your mark…”
Goosebumps.
Anticipation.
Yeah, but it scares me, too.
This isn’t all on You.
You’ve just told me to get myself ready.
I’m no spectator.
I’ve got work to do.
