Lazaroo – Friday, August 19, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, begging God for 20/20 spiritual vision:
“…make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love…if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind…”
(2 Peter 1:5-7, 9)
Well, that explains a lot, Jesus!
No wonder I keep stumbling.
The problem isn’t that it’s too dark in the room –
it’s my eyes.
Although You’ve given me a measure of each of these qualities, I need much more.
But I do have one question:
How can I be both –
nearsighted
and blind?
Wouldn’t it be one or the other?
Unless what You’re telling me is…
not having a quality – like “faith” –
keeps me from seeing what You’re doing
until it’s right under my nose
while not having one of the others – like “love” –
leaves me blind as a bat.
