Lazaroo – Thursday, August 11, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in a spirit of obedient submission:
“…although in Christ I could be bold and order you…”
(Philemon 1:8)
That kind of language doesn’t sit well with my generation, Jesus…
though that doesn’t make it any less true.
Paul had every right to “order” this man to do the right thing
not because Paul was better than Philemon
but because You had appointed Paul to a position
that carried with it that level of
anointing
responsibility
power.
The people in my world don’t like positions like that, LORD.
We’ve been burned too many times by people in authority.
Like fighting children, we bristle:
“Who made you the boss of me?!”
forgetting that You did.
I sometimes forget that too, Father!
especially when I disagree with the flawed people over me.
My rebellious heart doesn’t like anybody telling me what to do.
But since this is the way You’ve set it up…
guess I’d better line up.
