Lazaroo – Sunday, July 17, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with unshakable trust:
“Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey your words, whatever you may command them, will be put to death.”
(Joshua 1:18)
Your people gave Joshua a stunning vote of confidence, Jesus.
In today’s climate, we’d say they gave him too much power.
Way too much.
Obviously, they placed a high value on unity.
The very idea that disobeying Joshua’s commands meant death
would terrify most of the people I know.
I guess that was the point.
Wow.
You know me, Father – inside and out.
What if several million people put that much trust in me?
How would I handle it?
Many people believe power corrupts…
and that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Would that be true of me?
Actually, there’s a pretty simple way to find out, isn’t there?
You once said whoever can be trusted with very little
can be trusted with much.
