Lazaroo – Thursday, July 7, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble adoration:
“…the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground…”
(Genesis 2:7)
That explains a lot, Jesus.
You made me out of dirt.
No doubt it was good dirt
first-quality dirt
the finest dirt in the garden
but dirt nonetheless.
That’s how I act sometimes –
like the dirt I was made from.
Did I say “sometimes?”
I’m being rather generous to myself today.
I could blame my substandard behavior on the material You used to make me…
but I’d be missing the point, wouldn’t I?
The quality of the work doesn’t depend on the material the artist chooses
it depends solely on the skill of the artist.
You are my artist!
No one is Your equal.
Compared to You
Michelangelo was a clumsy finger painter.
You are the one who
lovingly
skillfully
brilliantly
formed me in my mother’s womb.
I am a work of art.
