Lazaroo – Friday, June 17, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sober reflection:
“I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me…”
(Jeremiah 1:16)
There’s no way to sugarcoat this, is there, Jesus?
I can’t soften it
explain it away.
And I had blessed well not try to ignore it.
Your mercy is great
but so are Your judgments.
Nor can I pretend these judgments are only for the heathen.
They will be pronounced on Your people
on those who claim to be Your followers.
But please help me understand what You’re telling me in this passage:
There’s a difference between sinning against You
and forsaking You.
Both are horrible
detestable
inexcusable.
But when I sin against You as my God
I can still turn back to You
change my ways
receive Your forgiveness.
However.
Anyone foolish enough to forsake You as their God
is left with nowhere to turn.
