Lazaroo – Sunday, May 22, 2011
No comments, May 22, 2011
Dare to think beyond your lifetime, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.”
(1Kings 2:1)
That’s making it count, Jesus.
David could have been consumed with his failing health.
He could have been totally distracted by the pain in his body.
Who could have blamed him?
He might have become bitter
as he watched people cheerily going about their duties
seemingly oblivious to the fact that he was dying…
or not caring.
He may have given himself completely to deep mourning
knowing his opportunity to make a difference on this earth
was about to end.
He may have permitted himself to shrink into a tiny ball of self-pity
haunted by how easily life was going to go right on
without him.
Instead, he gathered his last ounce of strength and invested it
in those who would follow him.
O God!
Help me do the same.
