Lazaroo – Saturday, May 14, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in solemn understanding…and trust:
“…the people of Asher lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land.”
(Judges 1:32)
I’ve given myself to You, Jesus
but many of the people around me have not.
That’s no small thing.
It affects me more than I realize.
If it didn’t, You wouldn’t have ordered Joshua to annihilate entire populations in the land You gave Your people.
On the surface, that looks like ethnic cleansing.
Many who have rejected You
cite that very thing as their deal-breaker.
I have to confess it makes me recoil in shock and horror, too.
But that’s because we don’t understand the insidious impact of their influence, isn’t it?
God-despisers twist our values
entice our children to turn against You.
The stakes aren’t merely life and death
they’re eternal life and death.
Protect me, LORD!
Protect my loved ones!
Work through me to “cleanse” my environment
by winning my neighbors to You.
