Lazaroo – Sunday, May 1, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning emotion:
“‘When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?’ says the LORD Almighty.”
(Malachi 1:8)
You’re not much for leftovers, are You, Jesus?
You’re not too impressed when I offer You my castoffs –
the things I can’t use
the stuff I don’t need or want.
Father, You sacrificed Your best for me
when You offered Your only Son
to suffer and die on the cross –
payment in full for my sins.
How can I offer You anything but my best in return?
When I try to figure out
how to volunteer a little time without inconveniencing myself
how to make a donation without affecting my bottom line
what, in the name of all that is holy
am I thinking?
