Lazaroo – Sunday, April 24, 2011
No comments, Apr 24, 2011
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning zeal:
“I know that it is my fault…”
(Jonah 1:12)
There’s something I don’t hear every day, Jesus.
What I’m used to hearing is:
“It’s not my fault!”
A lot of us have been taught to blame others
for the mistakes we make
the sins we commit
the addictions we can’t seem to shake.
We’ve been told it’s…
our parents’ fault
the times we grew up in
the economy
our teachers’ incompetence
our genetics
the state of the world today
the bad example others have set for us
bad luck
Only a handful of us haven’t bought that line.
But somehow I’m powerfully drawn
to those who refuse to offer any excuse.
If it happens on their watch, they take the blame.
They always think there’s something more they could have done.
A lot of people call them “crazy.”
I call them “heroes.”
May I be counted in their number.
