Lazaroo – Monday, February 21, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in stunned awareness:
“Be silent before the Sovereign LORD, for the day of the LORD is near.”
(Zephaniah 1:7)
I have to admit it seems a little strange to read these words, Jesus –
especially because I realize I’ve often been silent
when I should have spoken.
There have been too many times when I knew something was wrong
but I didn’t have the courage to speak up.
There have been other times when You created an opening for me to tell somebody about You…
and I didn’t take it.
I just let the opportunity hang there…
until it closed up and disappeared.
From that standpoint, I’m pretty good at being silent before You.
But that’s not the issue, is it?
Is it because when I pray
I’m always the one doing the talking?
Maybe I should hush up now and then…
and see if there’s anything You would like to say.
