Lazaroo – Friday, February 18, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with renewed sensitivity:
“…weep not at all.”
(Micah 1:10)
Sometimes there are no tears left to cry, Jesus.
Sometimes You’ve warned me so many times not to do something
that when I keep doing it anyway
and suffer the consequences
I’m just numb.
At other times I’m the one who delivers the warning.
I keep begging someone to turn around before it’s too late
but they keep ignoring me.
So when the thing I feared finally crashes in on them
I hate it
I hurt for them
but I don’t cry.
I’m just numb.
But “numb” is no way to live.
Granted, at first glance it appears painless.
It’s not.
It’s a pain that runs deeper than tear ducts can reach.
Rescue me from “numb,” LORD!
Help me feel everything You want me to feel.
Make me sensitive to You
along with the joy
and yes, also to the pain
of others.
