Lazaroo – Monday, January 17, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with straight-up humility:
“…we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling…”
(2 Thessalonians 1:11)
Well, that would take a heap of prayer, Jesus.
I realize no one is worthy of Your calling
but honestly – I’m at the bottom of the heap.
If You ever hold a contest for unworthiest Christ-follower of all, please let me know, so I can enter it.
That’s one contest I believe I could win.
It’s interesting, though…
Paul didn’t say he was praying for these people because they were worthy of Your calling
or even so they would become worthy through some great thing they might do.
Instead, He was constantly praying that You would count them worthy.
That’s like a gift, isn’t it?
Totally undeserved.
Not a function of my goodness
but of Yours.
Then let me join Paul in that prayer, LORD:
count me in.
