Lazaroo – Tuesday, January 4, 2011
No comments, Jan 04, 2011
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a heart longing to be freed from petty thinking:
“It is more bitter for me than for you, because the Lord’s hand has gone out against me!”
(Ruth 1:13)
When I’m hurting…
that’s exactly how it feels to me, Jesus.
I tend to look at people who are laughing, having a good time, prospering, seemingly on top of the world…
and conclude I’ve ended up holding the short end of the stick.
Of course, there’s not a whole lot I can say about that.
The short end is far better than I deserve.
If You were to give me what I have coming
it would not be a stick for my hand.
It would be a stick for my back.
But is it truly more bitter for me than for others?
Or have some of them learned to laugh
in spite of their pain?
Help me remember with compassion:
everybody’s hurting somehow, somewhere –
even when it doesn’t show.
