Lazaroo – Friday, December 10, 2010
No comments, Dec 10, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in desperate faith:
“The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree – all the trees of the field – are dried up. Surely the joy of mankind is withered away.”
(Joel 1:12)
“Dried up.”
“Withered.”
Those words make my skin crawl, Jesus.
They’re signs of shrinking, failure, decline.
They’re heavy with the pall of death.
And that’s exactly what I want to happen to my sinful human nature.
I want it to shrivel, dry up, wither, die.
I’m sick to death of its longstanding power in my life.
It’s had me far too long.
Just when I think I’ve made some progress in cleaning up my act
just when I believe I’ve experienced an “aha!” moment with You –
a real breakthrough –
my sinful nature rears its ugly head
and beats me bloody.
No more.
Please.
No more.
I need a win.
