Lazaroo – Monday, December 6, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with fresh eyes:
“Though you already know all this, I want to remind you…”
(Jude 1:5)
The longer I’ve been a Christian
this is one of the hardest things I face, Jesus.
I wrestle with a “been there, done that” mentality.
If I’ve heard it before
I tend to think I don’t need to hear it again
failing to recognize that to hear it is one thing
to understand it is another.
If I’ve actually understood a Bible verse or story
I tend to think it’s now old hat
and I need to move on
failing to realize that no matter how much understanding I’ve been given
there’s always far more to understand
than I have any idea.
Please remind me that some of Your oldest, most familiar truths
still contain hidden nuggets of incalculable worth
and that the biggest test
is not that I’ve heard or understood
but that I’ve obeyed.
