Lazaroo – Monday, November 29, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:
“When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right!”
(Isaiah 1:15-17)
Well, this is scary, Jesus.
It’s exactly what millions of people think –
that even if they called out to You
You wouldn’t listen.
We try to tell them –
“No! Jesus isn’t like that! He loves sinners! You can come to Him just as you are!”
And then I read this.
Now, what do I tell sinners who long to receive Your forgiveness?
I guess the same thing You tell me:
You did accept me as a sinner…
but now that I’m forgiven
now that You live in me
You expect me to make a little progress.
