Lazaroo – Sunday, October 24, 2009
No comments, Oct 24, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud all the way to the marrow of your bones:
“And I charged your judges at that time: Hear the disputes between your brothers and judge fairly, whether the case is between brother Israelites or between one of them and an alien.”
(Deuteronomy 1:16)
I love this about You, Jesus!
You love fairness
and hate favoritism.
You don’t want the rich to take advantage of the poor
nor the poor to be favored over the rich.
You refuse to let the strong shove aside the weak
but You insist on fair treatment for the strong.
You challenge us to honor every member of Your Church
which is Your own body –
whether our gifts are spectacular
or quiet, hidden, unapparent.
But I especially love that You call us to treat the outsider
as fairly as the insider.
Who does that?
Only You.
Maybe that means so much to me
because that’s how this outsider
was drawn all the way in.
