Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with every fiber of your being:

“And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah…”
(Luke 1:17)

Your prophet Malachi predicted this, Jesus –

400 years before it happened.

And yet, when John the Baptist showed up in the spirit and power of the prophet Elijah

even Your disciples missed it
until You spelled it out for them.

Well, of course – from the perspective of us human beings – that’s understandable.

You said Elijah would come again
so everybody was looking for Elijah himself
not a man named John who would come in Elijah’s spirit and power.

That’s so like You –

You have a way of keeping Your promises right down to the smallest detail

but somehow You almost always manage to do it
in a stunning way that is entirely unexpected.

So what am I overlooking, LORD?

Open my eyes!

I don’t want to miss a thing.
