Lazaroo – Thursday, September 23, 2010
No comments, Sep 23, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with pure devotion:
“…make every effort to add to your faith…godliness.”
(2 Peter 1:5-6)
“Godliness.”
Me?
O Jesus.
Halfway decent, maybe.
By human standards.
Some days.
But at other times, I’m not worth the bullet it would take to shoot me.
Oh my God!
I’m trying, striving, straining, aching, longing –
to become a person who at a quick glance
might remind somebody of You.
But at the very moment I catch a glimpse of myself and think –
“Wow, that was pretty good!”
I’m suddenly reminded I’ve just fallen woefully short.
You’ve made it clear I’m not even good.
No one is.
No one but You.
So where does that leave me?
With a command:
to make every effort to add godliness to my faith.
“my faith.”
That’s where it starts, doesn’t it?
Faith.
A stubborn, unshakable, rock-solid belief that You can do the impossible.
In me.
