Lazaroo – Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with trembling lips:
“The LORD said to Satan, ‘Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.’”
(Job 1:12)
This is unsettling, to say the least, Jesus.
The very idea that You would give Satan permission to do anything he wants
to anyone who means something to me
or anything I possess
makes me go tilt.
But that’s exactly what You did to Job –
a man blameless and upright
someone who feared You and shunned evil
the greatest man among all the people of the East.
In fact, You Yourself said there was no one on earth like him.
If that’s what You allowed Satan to do to Job
what would You allow him to do to me?
But maybe there’s a bigger question.
If it suits Your purposes…
do I truly desire You to do with me
whatever You will?
