Lazaroo – Friday, August 20, 2010
No comments, Aug 20, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with obedient courage:
“‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’”
(Acts 1:11)
It’s easy to just stand here, Jesus.
Looking.
So long as I do that, I’m on the sidelines
an observer.
maybe even a fan
but not a player.
True, nobody cheers for me, up here in the cheap seats
but nobody boos me, either
nobody throws rocks at me.
So it’s safe.
Or is it?
You haven’t called me to stand here looking into the sky
to be a disconnected, disengaged onlooker
high in the stands, away from the action.
You haven’t called me merely to recite Your will
but to do it.
If You’re coming back to reward what I’ve done
maybe I’d better get with it.
