Lazaroo – Sunday, August 15, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, as a sweet-smelling savor to God:
“He shall take out the memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD.”
(Leviticus 2:9)
Again and again You use that phrase, Jesus –
“…an aroma pleasing to the LORD.”
Throughout Scripture, You tell Your priests to present “fragrant incense” to You.
Mary poured a whole pint of expensive perfume on Your feet, filling the house with the fragrance.
When Judas criticized her for this “waste,” pointing out its value was a year’s wages that could have been given to the poor…
You rebuked him.
“Leave her alone,” You said.
Obviously, “fragrance” is a big deal to You.
You gave Yourself up for me as a fragrant offering to God.
May Your Father detect that same, sweet-smelling aroma in me
as I give myself up for those who so desperately need You.
