Lazaroo – Friday, August 6, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in the power of the Holy Spirit:
“…they all come bent on violence.”
(Habakkuk 1:9)
I live in a violent world, Jesus.
Everywhere I look, I hear reports of rape, murder, abuse, war, torture, human trafficking.
A huge number of us immerse ourselves in violence
as entertainment.
There is so much violence around me that I’ve become almost calloused to it.
I fear I don’t take it as seriously as You do.
For those of us who’ve heard all our lives that you hate the sin and not the sinner, it’s a real shock to read in your Word
that Your very soul hates the people who love violence.
And to the degree that my own soul recoils from such strong language…
no. I don’t share the depth of Your abhorrence of violence.
O God. I am so sorry.
Repair my twisted values!
Cleanse me.
Cause me to see…
through Your eyes.
