Lazaroo – Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deeply longing faith:
“The LORD your God is giving you rest and has granted you this land.”
(Joshua 1:13)
O Jesus.
That sounds so good.
Rest.
Peace.
Relaxation.
A place to call home
for awhile.
I know.
Those words weren’t addressed to me.
They were Moses’ words to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, the half-tribe of Manasseh.
But before they could actually settle down in their land and enjoy that rest
they had some serious fighting to do.
And so do I.
For as long as I draw a breath on this earth
I will know pain, disappointment, heartache, disillusionment, turmoil, dissatisfaction.
This world is not my home.
I’m an alien on this planet.
But still…
I claim those words of Moses for my own.
Because I’ve placed my faith in You
You’ve promised me a home
You’ve guaranteed me rest.
Not here.
There.
