Lazaroo – Monday, June 7, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in frank admiration:
“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.”
(Matthew 1:24)
Is that why Your Father chose Joseph to be Your stepdad, Jesus –
because He knew Joseph would do what He told him to do, even though
He told Joseph in a dream – something that could be explained away
it was contrary to his entire lifetime of personal experience
it meant he would be falsely judged the rest of his days
it absolutely defied human reason and natural law?
Joseph was a pretty special man, wasn’t he?
the kind of man You could trust to take care of Your mother
the kind of man You would enjoy spending time with
learning his trade
learning simple trust
learning humble obedience.
That’s who I long to be, Jesus!
a person who trusts and obeys
no matter what.

If we only had the simple faith and spirit of obedience that Joseph had….how much different would our lives be? There is so much to admire about him.
