Lazaroo – Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with an open mind and heart:
“I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning.”
(2 John 1:5)
What if John had written those words to me, Jesus?
What if a pastor had begun his message with them?
What if I had just purchased a new book only to discover that the author’s subject wasn’t about anything new
but something very old in Your Word
something I had already heard over and over again?
Would I be just as excited to
read John’s letter
hear our pastor’s sermon
read that author’s latest book?
Or in this environment of constantly evolving technology
have I been so conditioned to breathlessly await the
latest and greatest
new and “improved”
that I no longer allow myself to be thrilled
by Your eternal truths
that have stood the test of time?
Please show me.
Because John did write those words
to me.
