Lazaroo – Thursday, April 22, 2010
No comments, Apr 22, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with trusting honesty:
“And this is my prayer: that you may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.”
(Philippians 1:9-10)
That’s my prayer, too, Jesus
especially the part about being pure.
Something tells me if I can achieve purity
that may go a long way toward helping me live a blameless life.
There’s only one problem with this plan:
I can’t.
I’ve tried.
In fact, the harder I try to be pure
the more convinced I become:
I can’t do it.
At least…not in my own strength.
You’ve told me to keep myself pure –
which sounds like the responsibility is entirely mine.
But You know me!
No sooner do I conquer one sin
than another pops up.
I become proud of my humility.
I judge someone whose standards aren’t as “high” as mine.
My only hope in this struggle
is that You will rise up
to be Yourself in me.
