Lazaroo – Sunday, April 4, 2010
No comments, Apr 04, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deepest gratitude:
“…he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.”
(Mark 1:13)
Oh, Jesus.
I have a hard enough time with 30 seconds of temptation.
But forty days?
I can’t even begin to comprehend what that was like.
Nor was it some entry-level demon assigned to Your case
It was Satan
the great dragon himself
the ancient serpent who leads the whole world astray.
You took his best shot
and You beat him
hands down
without even once caving in to the
cleverest
most sinister
most brutal temptation the world has ever known.
True, Your heavenly Father sent angels to help You
but only after the devil had given up
for awhile.
Why did Your heavenly Father make it so hard on You?
It was for me, wasn’t it?
So when I’m tempted
I can turn to You.
