Lazaroo – Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with undiluted sincerity:
“‘A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?’ says the LORD Almighty.”
(Malachi 1:6)
There was a time when many people thought of You as a harsh, distant God.
So we tried to correct that by showing them Your kinder, gentler side.
But somehow in the process, the pendulum has swung too far the other way.
Now, there are millions of people who dismiss You
as some sort of kindly background figure
who pats everyone on the head
and winks at our sins.
O God!
Help us present You fully and without apology in the
incomprehensibly loving
terror-inspiring majesty
revealed in Your holy Word
and not as the itching ears of a fickle crowd wants to hear.
In Your holy Name, LORD Jesus.
Amen.
