Lazaroo – Sunday, March 14, 2010
No comments, Mar 14, 2010
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from your inmost being:
“In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old.”
(Lamentations 1:7)
That’s one of the hardest things about backsliding, Jesus –
remembering the happier, more innocent times of my past…
before the blind, bullheaded foolishness of my sin
robbed me of the priceless blessings I took for granted.
It’s torture.
I can hardly bear to imagine the joyful existence that could have been mine by now
had I never strayed from the safety of Your claims on me.
At the time, I thought Your rules were restrictive.
Now I know they were to my life
what guardrails are to a mountain road.
I ignored them
broke through them
eager to experience what I thought was freedom
only to plunge down, down, down
to this.
I’m older, now
wiser
absolutely determined:
never again will I leave Your path’s
protection.
