Lazaroo – Monday, January 4, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in wide-eyed amazement:
“The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.”
(1 John 1:2)
What a strange way for John to refer to You, Jesus.
Among Your disciples, he was the one closest to You.
He could have called You, “my best friend.”
He could have called You any of the other names given to You in the Bible –
Jesus…Immanuel…Messiah…Son of God…Son of Man…Prince of Peace…
But here, he calls You:
“The life.”
Wow.
Far beyond Your facial features and body type what was it he saw in You
up close
that made him call You that?
Usually, the closer we get to a famous person
the less impressed we become.
But with You, the closer John got…
the closer I get
the more I fall on my face
in awe.
