Lazaroo – Thursday, August 20, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in excuseless humility:
“The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.”
(Ecclesiastes 1:8)
You know Solomon was depressed when he uttered these words, Jesus. To him, everything was “wearisome, more than one can say.”
But these are Your words, as well.
You have a way of speaking truth through us in spite of our foul moods.
Again and again – as You did when You fed thousands with one boy’s lunch –
You take our “not enough” and make it “more than enough.”
Do that now in me, using Solomon’s discouraged words:
May my eyes never have enough –
of seeing You turn certain loss into stunning gain!
May my ears never have their fill –
of hearing an unending stream of Your people testify to Your outrageous grace!
And one day may I – the least of them all –
add my wholly undeserved stories of jaw-dropping triumph
to theirs.
