May 24, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“Your blood be on your own head.”
(2 Samuel 1:16)

Those are stunningly hard words to hear, Jesus.

But I know they’re true.

Yes, at one time or another my parents, family members, neighbors, teachers, coworkers –   even my closest friends – have all let me down.  Some of them have been major stumbling blocks to me.

Still, those are excuses.  Down deep in my heart, I know.

I have no one to blame but myself.

But praise Your holy Name!

My blood is no longer on my own head!

You died on the cross in my place.  You took every shred of my guilt, my shame, my self-inflicted blame upon Yourself.

My blood…is on Your head.

You dealt with it once and for all.

And then, with Your dying breath, You proclaimed it for the world to hear:

“It is finished!”

Thanks Lord for replacing unhealthy guilt with your sacrifice and mercy and replacing it with healthy conviction to live for You.
