Lazaroo – Thursday, June 18, 2009

Jun 18, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deeply sensitive trust:

“He has given us his very great and precious promises.”
(2 Peter 1:4)

A promise is supposed to mean something, Jesus.

In the mouth of a good person, it does.

It means I can count on it, plan around it, look forward to it.

Still.

Some of the best people I know have failed to keep their promises.

They meant well. Their intentions were good. They were absolutely sincere when they gave me their word.

But their best wasn’t good enough.

And I was left holding the pieces of a broken promise.

So I know You understand why – after a lifetime of disappointments – my confidence in Your promises is tempered by doubt.

No one I know is perfect.

Except You.

Which means I will never bask in the unconditional security of Your promises until I fully realize…

…who You are.
