Lazaroo – Friday, April 8, 2011
Apr 08, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Allow yourself to be filled with wonder, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance.”
(Song of Songs 1:12)
That’s quite a picture, Jesus.
Here’s an immensely wealthy, powerful man
seated at his table, dining in luxury I can only imagine
enjoying the finest culinary masterpieces his chefs can create
but in the midst of his feast, he becomes aware of a presence
something vastly more inviting
than the next forkful of food on its way to his mouth.
What does it?
What is it that captures his attention?
It’s her perfume.
And suddenly, food doesn’t seem quite so important anymore.
Sometimes it’s not taste, is it?
It’s not always the words I could say.
Not the way I look.
Not even my ability to reach out and touch.
Sometimes it’s fragrance
the sweet aroma of Your life that is truly life
that makes others aware of Your Presence
in me.
