O Jesus.

That explains the filthiness that clings to the skirts of the human race:

They don’t consider their future.

When they sin

they don’t think beyond the moment.

It’s all about

the thrill
the pleasure
the feeling
the desire

never about

the payback
the consequence
the penalty
the result

It’s about that mesmerizing image on his computer screen

never about the broken heart of his wife when she discovers he’s betrayed her trust.

It’s about that soothing drag on the cigarette

never about the lung cancer.

It’s about the shortcut the lie bought for her

never about her destroyed reputation when she’s found out.

I oughta know.

In my short time on this earth
I’ve glanced down in shamed horror
and seen way too much filth
clinging to me.
