Lazaroo – Friday, February 19, 2010
Feb 19, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“…you became a model to all the believers…”
(1 Thessalonians 1:7)
Oh, Jesus.
As soon as I read those words, I blanch.
Not me.
I’m no model for anybody.
I’ve blown it too many times.
I’ve got way too many issues yet to work out.
The last thing I want
is somebody modeling himself or herself
after me.
I know people need models to follow
but when the blind lead the blind
both fall in a ditch.
So that’s my disclaimer.
There’s just one problem with that:
I can’t avoid it, can I?
Like it or not – one way or another
People are watching my life!
They will either use me as an example of the right thing to do
or the wrong thing, to avoid.
Okay.
Then make me a model of the amazing things You’re wiling to do
for the least deserving of all.
