Lazaroo – Friday, January 11, 2013
Jan 11, 2013 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in repentant horror:
“How long before you order your men to stop pursuing their brothers?”
(2 Samuel 2:26)
I know this was one of Your generals appealing to another of Your generals, Jesus.
But it hits me right between the eyes
about what’s going on in Your Church today.
Far too much of the so-called church growth happening today
isn’t “growth” at all.
It’s one church stealing sheep from another:
one church profiting from scandal in another
one church out-marketing the other
one church out-staffing the other
one church headlining a better speaker than the other
one church out-programming another
one church assembling better musicians and singers than the other
one church building a more impressive campus than another.
I didn’t think we were supposed to entice people to jump their ship for ours.
I thought we were supposed to rescue the people who are drowning
in the cold, dark water.
