Lazaroo – Friday, January 13, 2012
Jan 13, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“On the day you stood aloof…”
(Obadiah 1:11)
May I never do that, Jesus!
I don’t want to be
cold
uncaring
unfeeling.
I don’t want to stand there distant, like stone
while somebody goes under the water for the third time –
not even if they “deserve” it
not even if they full well have it coming.
Because I do, too.
Yes, You’ve blessed me.
Yes, I’ve done a few things that I hope are pleasing to You.
But that doesn’t mean I can look down my nose at anyone.
You also know my shortcomings.
If You chose to, You could shove my countless sins in front of my face, to remind me of why I need You so desperately, as my Savior.
So, no.
May I not be counted among those who stand aloof.
May I instead be the one who stoops down
and offers a compassionate, helping hand.
