Lazaroo – Friday, July 10, 2009

Jul 10, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo out loud:

“‘Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?’ the LORD says. ‘Yet I have loved Jacob, but Esau I have hated.’”
(Malachi 1:2-3)

So much for the old saying, “God doesn’t hate anybody.”

Obviously, You do.

I wonder what other things “everybody says” about You…

…are as wrong as this one?

I don’t want to worship a god we’ve invented to our own liking, Jesus.

I want You.

The real You. The

raw
untamed
outrageous
politically incorrect
utterly uncontrollable
King of kings and LORD of lords

You.

Because everything You do is good.

Everything You ARE is good.

Whether I understand it or not.

Whether anybody likes it or not.

So if You hate somebody…

…I guess they need to be hated.

All I ask is that You help me understand where Esau went wrong.

Because the last thing I want to do

is follow in that guy’s footsteps.

For me, the message here is that God is sovereign. Me, with my caveman like mind (with apologies to Saturday Night Live), can’t understand the hate of God. All I can do is be obedient and accept the path God has laid before me.

BTW – there is apparently two Jeff’s on this list. 🙂
