Lazaroo – Monday, April 15, 2013
Apr 15, 2013 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, without complaint:
“Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, all you clans of the house of Israel. This is what the LORD says: ‘What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed so far from me?’”
(Jeremiah 2:4-5)
There’s absolutely no fault in You, Jesus.
None.
I have no excuse.
But I’ve heard this question before –
from the devastated person whose spouse has cheated:
“What did I do to deserve this?!!!”
Of course, there’s never any excuse for adultery
so the answer most of us give is:
“You did nothing to deserve this.”
But that’s not true, is it?
We’re all sinners.
We deserve worse than anything we get –
including someone who cheats on us.
We deserve death.
Make that: I deserve death.
So in truth, I can never wail, “What did I do to deserve this?”
Because down deep
I know the answer.
