Lazaroo – Monday, July 22, 2013
Jul 22, 2013 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sharpened awareness:
“…their gods will be a snare to you.”
(Judges 2:3)
Any god other than You, Jesus…
can be a snare to me.
But some of these false gods are more dangerous than others:
the gods of my friends
family
coworkers
neighbors
the gods of my favorite TV shows
must-see movies
bands, groups, singers
artists, entertainers
the gods of my most-admired leaders
role models
customs, traditions, culture, country
church, denomination, religion
The gods of the people, places, things
with whom I spend the most time.
So what are their gods, Father?
I’d better identify them, huh?
Otherwise, they might sneak up on me
begin to subtly influence my thinking and behavior
slowly pull me into their trap
drive a wedge between You and me.
Of course, this raises a somewhat bigger question:
Why in the world am I deliberately spending time
with people, places and things
who worship false gods?
