Lazaroo – Monday, June 13, 2011

Jun 13, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:

“My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts.”
(Song of Songs 1:13)

I haven’t heard just a whole lot of sermons preached on this verse, Jesus.

I wonder why! 😉

Are we embarrassed over Your decision
to include sexually explicit language in Your holy Book?

Or is it because we don’t want to offend worshipers
who are clueless that You’re the inventor of sex?

Should we not tell them?
Would it dampen their worship

or enhance it?

Maybe preachers skip over these passages
because there are children in the room

believing the next generation
should be educated in such delicate matters
by Hollywood, public schools and the Internet

instead of their Creator
who gave them this amazing, intimate gift.

Or maybe it’s just fear of criticism

from those who prefer to pick and choose
which of Your words are acceptable

and which are not.
